The work taking place to transform Owlstone Croft for the next generation of students has now been underway for over six months.
We are delighted to share that despite one of the rainiest starts to the year on record we are currently running ahead of schedule.
The thirteen new houses are starting to take shape. A concrete slab base has been poured, waterproof membranes laid, and insulation installed. Perhaps most exciting of all: the timber frames have been built to form the outside shell of the first set of houses. Thanks to kind gifts from our alumni and friends, these homes will provide 60 new accessible rooms to our post-graduate students.
The renovations taking place at A & B Block are particularly important as we introduce improved facilities at Owlstone Croft such as new study spaces, social areas, and a gym. Over the last month, internal wiring has begun which means we are one step closer to completing B Block this summer! Thanks to philanthropy, we are currently able to keep room rents subsidised by 30%, ensuring that student accommodation remains accessible to all. We hope to be able to continue this going forward through funds raised in the Bridge to the Future campaign.
